Matthew Godfrey is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst (2019–present). His work focuses on consumer culture theory, sociocultural dynamics in consumption, and the intersection of repair practices with sustainability. He holds a PhD in Marketing (with a Sociology minor) from the University of Arizona (2019).
Research interests include spatial/social inclusion in markets, servicescape design, and how material repair shapes sustainable behaviors. Teaching focuses on qualitative methods, consumer experience, and retail management. He has received multiple awards including the 2023 ASA Consumers and Consumption Section's Distinguished Scholarly Publication Award and RRBM Honor Roll recognition (2022).
