Dr Mark Donnelly is an Associate Professor in History at St Mary's University, serving as Course Lead for BA History and MA Public History. He co-directs the Walpole Centre for Literature, History and Public Pasts. His teaching focuses on contemporary cultural/political history, public history, collective memory, and liberal arts.
His research explores history theory, collective memory, and British cultural history. Key works include Liberating Histories (2019), Mad Dogs and Englishness (2017), and Sixties Britain (2005). Current projects include Routledge Handbook of Gender in the 1960s and Song, Music and Wellbeing.
Recent publications analyze Martin Davies' historiographical critiques, Holocaust memory in 1960s Britain, and migration narratives. He actively supervises PhD students in history theory, collective memory, and contemporary British culture.
