Maria Martinez Ayerza is a Professor at the Royal College of Music specializing in Historical Performance, with a focus on medieval and renaissance music. She holds both an MMus and MA degree, having graduated with distinction from the Conservatory of Seville and completed advanced studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and University of Amsterdam.

- Editor-in-chief of Blokfluitist magazine
- Co-initiator of Open Recorder Days Amsterdam festival
Her research focuses on historical recorder performance practices and music education outreach, having delivered over 700 performances for children through the Memorable Moments Foundation. She maintains international teaching engagements across Europe, the Americas, and Australia.
