Makane Moïse Mbengue serves as Full Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva and holds a Visiting Professor position at Sciences Po Paris (School of Law). He possesses a Ph.D. in Public International Law and actively contributes to international legal education through courses organized by the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
Professor Mbengue's research interests focus on core areas of international law, with particular expertise in international environmental law and international investment law as evidenced by his course offerings. His academic work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical application in international legal systems.
As an active legal practitioner, Prof. Mbengue serves as counsel in disputes before international courts and tribunals, bringing real-world experience to his academic work. His teaching portfolio includes International Environmental Law (scheduled for Spring Semester 2026) and International Investment Law (Droit international des investissements, scheduled for Autumn Semester 2025/26).
Professor Mbengue maintains an active role in international legal education beyond his home institution, contributing his expertise to UN training programs while maintaining his primary academic appointment at the University of Geneva's Faculty of Law.
