معرفی
Lynn F. Gladden is Professor and Shell Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, serving as Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research since 2010 and Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology since 2008. She is a Fellow of Trinity College.
Education
- BSc in Chemical Physics, University of Bristol, 1982
- PhD in Physical Chemistry, University of Cambridge, 1987
Research Interests
Professor Gladden's pioneering work focuses on magnetic resonance applications in catalysis and chemical engineering processes. Her research bridges physical chemistry and process engineering, developing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques for real-time monitoring of catalytic reactions and industrial chemical processes. This interdisciplinary approach has established new methodologies for analyzing reaction dynamics in complex engineering systems.
Scientific Awards and Honors
- Beilby Medal (Institute of Materials, RSC and Society Chemical Industry), 1995
- Miller Visiting Professor, University of California, Berkeley, 1996
- Fellow of Institution of Chemical Engineers, 1996
- Tilden lectureship and silver medal of RSC, 2000
- Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, 2001
- OBE for services to chemistry, 2001
- Fellow of Institute of Physics, 2003
- Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, 2003
- Fellow of Royal Society, 2004
- Shell Professor of Chemical Engineering, 2004
- CBE for services to chemical engineering, 2009
Professional Leadership
Professor Gladden's 35+ year career at Cambridge progressed from Assistant Lecturer (1987) to Lecturer (1991), Reader (1995), and Professor (1999). She served as Head of Chemical Engineering (2006-2008) before leading the expanded Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Her administrative leadership extends university-wide through her Pro-Vice Chancellor role overseeing research strategy and infrastructure.
