Brian F. G. Johnson is a Professor at the University of Cambridge, where he has held significant academic and administrative roles. Currently serving as Master of Fitzwilliam College since 1999, he previously held the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry at Cambridge from 1970 to 1995 and the Crum Brown Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh from 1990 to 1995.

He has also been awarded the Corday–Morgan Medal and Tilden Medal, and elected as Fellow of the Royal Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal Society of Edinburgh, and Academia Europa.
