Lynette Alcántara is an Australian-born classical mezzo soprano, voice teacher, and conductor serving as part-time Director of Music and Governing Body Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge. Affiliated with the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Music, she coordinates the Vocal Pathway of the MMus in Choral Studies and lectures on vocal health and pedagogy.
Her educational background includes musicology, music education, and classical voice studies at Monash and Melbourne Universities, where she won the National Liederfest Scholarship.
Dr. Alcántara's research centers on voice science applications in vocal pedagogy, focusing on vocal anatomy and health to enhance teaching efficacy and prevent injury. Her work with the KJV Community Children's Choir demonstrates choral singing's positive impact on children's academic, personal, and vocal development through empirical community engagement.
