Amy Voorhees is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Susquehanna University. She conducts the University Choir and Chamber Singers, and teaches Choral Conducting and Choral Methods. Her office is located in Cunningham Center – Rm 238C.

Research/Professional Interests: Focused on choral pedagogy, vocal performance, and music leadership. Her work emphasizes ensemble excellence through innovative conducting techniques and collaborative educational strategies. She has directed ensembles achieving Superior I ratings and led programs recognized nationally, including performances at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Convention in 2014.
Professional Activities: A sought-after clinician and guest conductor, she has worked with schools and institutions across Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Colorado. She actively contributes to professional organizations such as the ACDA, National Association for Music Education (NAFME), and Jazz Education Network. Previously served on the board of directors for the Michigan State Vocal Music Association and Iowa Choral Directors organization.
Advising & Leadership: Supervised staff and ensembles at Waukee High School, overseeing 11 choral groups including award-winning show and jazz choirs. Led K-12 vocal music departments and held leadership roles in school districts and community organizations.
Labs/Teams: Directs University Choir, Chamber Singers, and oversees choral programs at Susquehanna. Previously directed Cantate Advanced Treble Choir, Bella Voce Treble Choir, and vocal jazz ensembles.
