Dr. Jenny Hutton is an Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in music education, supervises student teachers, and directs Bella Voce, the university's treble chamber choir. She holds a PhD in Music Education from Temple University, a MM in Choral Conducting from Northern Arizona University, a BM in Music Education from Georgia State University, and a BA in Psychology and Women's & Gender Studies from Amherst College.
Her research focuses on connection during choral singing, culturally responsive vocal pedagogy, and teacher-student relationships in music classrooms. Hutton is an Estill Master Trainer and actively contributes to professional organizations such as ACDA, NAfME, AOSA, and AERA. Her work has been published in journals like Journal of Music Teacher Education and the Oxford Handbook of Care in Music Education, and she frequently presents at international, national, and state conferences.
Bella Voce, under her leadership, exemplifies her commitment to ensemble excellence and inclusive music education. Her teaching philosophy integrates practical classroom experience with theoretical frameworks, informed by over two decades of choral and general music teaching in public, independent, and community settings.
