Louise Foley is a public health scientist affiliated with the University of Cambridge through the School of Clinical Medicine and the CEDAR - Centre for Diet and Activity Research. Her work focuses on physical activity, sedentary behavior, and the health impacts of urban environments, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. She serves as Research Co-Director for the Global Diet and Activity Research Network (GDAR), which evaluates interventions and models health impacts in urban contexts.
Her research spans interdisciplinary themes including urban health, food security, and transport systems. Key projects involve analyzing the effects of urban motorways, evaluating food retail environments in Kenya, and exploring active travel barriers in African cities. She employs mixed-methods approaches and mathematical modeling to assess population-level health outcomes.
Louise previously held a Career Development Fellowship at CEDAR and completed a PhD at the University of Auckland. Her current work builds on CEDAR's legacy within the MRC Epidemiology Unit, focusing on global health equity and evidence-based policy design.
