Linda Greveling serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Science within the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. Her academic career spanning several decades has established her as a specialist in Dutch educational history, with particular expertise in comprehensive education reforms from 1969-1993. She maintains an active research profile with publications through 2019 and is regularly involved in academic activities through the BNVGOO (Belgisch-Nederlandse Vereniging voor de Geschiedenis van Opvoeding en Onderwijs).
Dr. Greveling's research expertise centers on educational history, particularly the Dutch 'Middenschool' project and comprehensive education reforms. Her work extensively examines how educational innovations were framed and debated in Dutch society, with special attention to media representation through newspapers and television broadcasts. She has conducted significant research on Protestant school responses to comprehensive education reforms and the influence of international educational models on Dutch policy development. Her scholarship consistently reveals the complex interplay between educational policy, religious identity, and societal values in the Dutch context.
Analysis of her publication record shows a clear trajectory from historical studies of the 'Middenschool' project (1969-1993) to more recent work on workplace learning and adult education. Her articles demonstrate methodological diversity, employing historical analysis, media studies, and qualitative research approaches. The recurring themes across her work include educational reform processes, policy transfer across borders, and the representation of educational innovations in public discourse.
Dr. Greveling maintains active engagement with the academic community through participation in the History of Education Doctoral Summer School (both as organizer in 2016 and attendee in 2014), serving as a keynote speaker at BNVGOO events, and contributing as a peer reviewer for the journal History of Education. Her collaborative work with scholars like Hilda Amsing and Jeroen Dekker appears in respected journals including European Educational Research Journal, History of Education, and Paedagogica Historica.
