C.A. (Chelsea) Rodriguez, PhD, is an Affiliated Researcher at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, within the Pedagogy department. She holds a part-time lecturing role at KU Leuven. Her research focuses on the History of Education, Educational Journalism, American Cultural History, LGBTQ+ History, and the use of digital newspaper archives. Rodriguez completed her PhD in 2025 with a study on postwar education news coverage, supervised by Prof. Johannes Westberg and Dr. Hilda Amsing.
Education: Bachelors in History Education (2014, Cum Laude, Fort Lewis College) → Masters in Educational Studies (2020, Magna Cum Laude, KU Leuven) → PhD at RUG (2025). Prior to academia, she taught high school history and psychology in Colorado, USA.
Her research trends emphasize intersectional analysis of education, media, and policy, particularly through digital newspaper archives. Recent work explores LGBTQ+ school safety strategies and neoliberal influences on American education.
