Prof. Hilda Amsing is a Professor in the History of Dutch Education (Aletta Jacobs Chair) and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on educational history, particularly the development of secondary education, comprehensive schooling experiments, and educational reforms. She holds significant roles in academic governance and serves on boards such as the National Education Museum and the International Advisory Board of Paedagogica Historica.
Her expertise spans interdisciplinary social sciences and includes studies on equal opportunities, youth narratives, and the historical context of educational policies. She has published extensively on Dutch educational history, including analyses of mid-20th century school reforms and the role of historical pedagogy in modern education.
