Dr. Danny J. Beckers is an Assistant Professor at the Athena Institute within the Faculty of Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He specializes in the history of mathematics education and mathematical societies, with a focus on Cold War-era educational reforms and the application of programmed instruction (1945-1975). He is currently writing a double biography of Hans and Susan Freudenthal and contributes to digitization projects of mathematical archives. Beckers collaborates with Gerard Alberts on master courses in the history and philosophy of mathematics and digital cultures.
Teaching includes bachelor courses on the history of mathematics (FEW_X_400652), computing (FEW_XB_0076), and AI (FEW_X_400318), plus a master seminar in history of science. His research intersects with the history of computing and formal education systems, particularly in the Netherlands.
