Martijn Lak is a Lecturer at the Department of History, Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (Erasmus University Rotterdam). He is currently a PhD Candidate focusing on Dutch-German relations post-1945, particularly economic and political dynamics between 1945-1957. His work bridges post-war reconciliation and strategic alliances in post-Nazi Europe.
Research interests include WWII military and diplomatic history, Eastern Front studies, and Cold War-era international relations. He has published extensively on military units, wartime decision-making, and historical analysis of key conflicts. Notable contributions include reviews of works on the Eastern Front and analyses of German military strategies in the Netherlands.
Lak has delivered academic presentations, including an oral presentation at the De Academische Boekengids in 2008. His research integrates archival sources with geopolitical frameworks to explore how post-war economic ties influenced political normalization between Germany and the Netherlands.
