Dr. Lara Jirmanus is a family physician at the Cambridge Health Alliance, a Fellow at the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School. She founded the Health and Law Immigrant Solidarity Network in February 2017 to support immigrants in Eastern Massachusetts through collaboration between healthcare professionals, legal experts, and community organizations.

Dr. Jirmanus specializes in the intersection of migration, conflict, and health systems, with research focusing on how immigration enforcement policies impact immigrant health outcomes in Massachusetts and the complex health dynamics between Syrian refugees and host communities in Lebanon. Her work bridges clinical practice with structural advocacy.
She has extensive field experience addressing worker and immigrant rights in the United States, infectious disease challenges in Brazil, and conflict-related health impacts across the Middle East. Her teaching portfolio includes developing and instructing courses on global health, social medicine, and the Syrian refugee crisis at both the American University of Beirut and Harvard University.
