Kyunghee Eo is an Assistant Professor at Yale University specializing in modern Korean literature and popular culture. Her research focuses on women’s literature, LGBTQ+ studies in Korea, and Korean American cultural narratives. She earned her BA (2007) and MA (2012) from Yonsei University, and a PhD (2021) in English from the University of Southern California. Previously, she held an Assistant Professor position at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Her research explores how marginalized voices in Korea—particularly women and sexual minorities—are represented in literature and media. Her first book project, The Erotics of Purity, examines the 'girl aesthetic' in South Korean cultural production through queer and feminist frameworks. She is also translating the works of early 20th-century Korean immigrant writer Nak Chung Thun.
Her publications appear in academic volumes such as Queer Korea (Duke UP, 2020) and Revisiting Minjung (Michigan UP, 2019). Her work bridges Korean studies with global feminist and queer discourse.
