Kyle Peters serves as Percussion Chair and Instructor at the Eastman Community Music School (ECMS), part of the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He concurrently holds a position with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and directs multiple percussion ensembles at ECMS.
His academic credentials include:
- Performer’s Certificate from Eastman School of Music
- Master of Music in Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music
- Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam
Peters specializes in percussion performance pedagogy, music education methodology, and contemporary marimba composition. His research-driven teaching approach integrates technical mastery with artistic expression, evidenced by his published etude book Soundscapes: Concert Etudes for Marimba adopted by conservatories globally. He emphasizes cross-cultural performance practices, demonstrated through international engagements like his Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts debut.
As an educator, Peters maintains a studio of 30+ students annually at ECMS while directing three percussion ensembles and coaching New Horizons programs. His former students attend elite institutions including Northwestern University and Vanderbilt University.
