Anthony J Calabrese is an Applied Instructor of Percussion and Director of the Percussion Ensemble at Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS), where he has been a member of the music faculty since 2011. He is affiliated with the Department of Music within the School of Music, contributing to applied instruction and ensemble leadership.

His primary research and scholarly interests center on orchestral percussion, keyboard percussion solos and concertos, and percussion ensemble literature. A notable research contribution is his annotated catalog of 47 marimba concertos with wind/brass accompaniment, which provides detailed information on instrumentation, performance duration, and technical requirements to assist performers in repertoire selection.
Dr. Calabrese has extensive teaching experience, having previously held positions at West Chester University and Nazareth College of Rochester. He has taught percussion methods, applied percussion, and directed both concert and marching ensembles since the 1990s. At HWS, he teaches MUS 927: Applied Percussion.
