Kristie Bruzenak is a Professor of Foundation Studies at the School of Foundations Studies, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), teaching in both the Foundation Studies and Illustration departments since 2003. She has also served as a Professor in the Illustration department from 2023–2025. Previously, she worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at Lehigh University from 1994–1999. She leads curriculum development initiatives as the Team Leader of the Foundations Curriculum Revisions Committee and has authored courses such as Drawing for Design, Visual Design Systems, and the online course Two-Dimensional Design.
- Education: M.F.A. in Painting from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; M.Ed. and B.S. in Art Education from Kutztown University.
Her research and teaching focus on integrating design systems, scientific illustration, and classical proportion principles into foundational art education. She has developed elective courses like Digital Drawing and supports student engagement as the adviser for SCAD's Scientific Illustration Club.
Notable awards include the SCAD Presidential Fellowship (2016), SCAD Professional Development Grant (2018), and Sabbatical grants (2011, 2018). She has presented at national conferences on topics spanning composition techniques, career preparation, and curriculum innovation.
