Kostiantyn Gorobets, PhD, is a Researcher at the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen, affiliated with the Transboundary Legal Studies and Public Trust and Public Law units. His work focuses on International Law, Authority of International Law, and Normative Authority, with a specialization in the International Rule of Law and Metaphorical Thinking. He has contributed to debates on the interpretation of customary international law by international courts.
His research examines the tensions between legal order, imperialism, and decolonization, particularly in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Gorobets has authored books like Contemplating an Uneven Landscape: The Authority of International Law (2022) and co-edited volumes such as Customary International Law and Its Interpretation by International Courts (2024).
Key awards include the NWO Talent Programme Veni (2024), Erasmus Dissertation Prize (2023), and the Incentive Fund for Interdisciplinary Projects (2022). He actively participates in academic presentations, including upcoming talks on Russian Alternative Legality (2025) and the Law of Multipolarity (2025).
