Wouter Werner is a Full Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Kooijmans Institute and Boundaries of Law. He holds roles such as editor at International Theory | Cambridge and a position at the Universiteit van Curacao. His research focuses on repetition in international law, customary law evolution, and the notion of absurdity in legal interpretation. Notable works include Repetition and International Law (2022) and contributions to Punishment in International Society (2024). He teaches courses on international humanitarian law, documentary film, and legal theory.
