Kirk Anderson is the UArctic Chair in School Effectiveness and School Improvement and Dean of the Faculty of Education at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). He holds a PhD in educational administration and leadership from the University of Toronto, with undergraduate and graduate degrees in science and education from MUN.

- Past roles: Education professor at University of Saskatchewan and University of Calgary; Associate Dean at University of New Brunswick; Dean of Faculty of Education at MUN (2011-2019)
His research focuses on school leadership, school effectiveness, Indigenous education, teacher leadership, and rural schools. He has conducted significant research on Indigenous education success and international projects, particularly in Arctic regions.
Scientific awards include the Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Calgary Graduate Students’ Association. Kirk Anderson has been actively involved in academic governance through memberships in the

He previously served as President of the Association of Canadian Deans of Education and Vice President (Anglophone) of the Canadian Society for Studies in Education. His work includes research into Canadian Perspectives for Teacher Development in the North, with an Inuit and Sami centric view.
