Kimberly Nelson

Kimberly Nelson is an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest School of Medicine studying peroxiredoxin enzymes and redox signaling. Her research examines how cysteine oxidation regulates protein function in cellular signaling pathways.

Dr. Nelson's work combines biochemical assays and proteomic methods to map sulfenic acid modifications in proteins. She has developed dimedone-based probes for detecting redox-sensitive cysteine residues and characterized peroxiredoxin catalytic mechanisms across species.
