Kimberly Cole is a Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University, affiliated with the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). She serves as the Equine Extension Specialist, providing resources for Ohio horse owners and leading the 4-H Horse Program. Her roles include teaching courses such as Introduction to Equine Studies (ANIM SCI 2221) and co-instructing a study abroad program in Spain. She advises ~30 undergraduate students and collaborates with graduate researchers.
Education: BS in Animal Science from Virginia Tech (1994), MS and PhD in Animal Science and Cellular/Molecular Biology from the University of Arkansas (2002–2005), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arkansas’ JK Skeeles Poultry Health Laboratory (2007).
Research focuses on improving equine health through probiotic studies and reducing foodborne pathogens (Salmonella/Campylobacter) in poultry. Her work bridges animal management practices and public health.
