Professor Katrina Pritchard is a Professor in the Business Management Department at Swansea University, serving concurrently as Director of Learning and Teaching, Deputy Dean, and acting Joint Dean of the School of Management. She holds a Geography degree from St Catherine's College, Oxford, and previously worked as a management consultant with Accenture before transitioning to academia. Her research focuses on identity (in employment and volunteering contexts), diversity (particularly age and gender), and qualitative methodologies including digital and visual methods. She is a Fellow of the AAU and serves on the editorial boards of Work, Employment and Society and Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology.
Her career includes roles at the London School of Economics (LSE), Birkbeck, and the Open University before joining Swansea in 2017. Teaching interests span leadership, human resource management, and organizational behavior. She supervises postgraduate research on topics like LGBTQIA+ experiences, anti-doping credibility, and disability in volunteering.
Key research themes include gendered entrepreneurship, digital media's role in work, and aging in the workplace. Recent work explores aesthetic labor in media (e.g., Pirelli calendars), urgency in work practices, and methodological approaches to tracing networked images. Her books include Collecting Qualitative Data Using Digital Methods (2020) and contributions to Research Methods for Digital Work and Organization (2021).
Her academic awards include the AAU Fellowship, and she actively collaborates on interdisciplinary projects addressing diversity, ethics, and digital research challenges.
