Kathryn Brohman

Kathryn Brohman is an Associate Professor and E. Marie Shantz Fellow of Digital Technology at Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business. She directs the Master of Digital Product Management program, a collaboration between Smith School and Queen’s School of Computing. Her academic career began at the University of Georgia (2000-2003) before joining Queen’s in 2003. She holds a PhD in Management Information Systems from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.

Research: Brohman’s work focuses on digital transformation, strategy execution, and healthcare technology. She leads the Ontario Ministry-funded Community Paramedicine Remote Patient Monitoring (CPRPM) project and co-authored SHIFT: A New Mindset for Sustainable Execution, introducing the Cost of Execution (COx) metric. Her research spans over 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals like MIS Quarterly and Journal of Information Technology.

Awards: Recognized with Queen’s Distinguished Faculty Fellowship in MIS (2012–2021), Lilly Teaching Fellowship (2002–2003), and Society of Management Information Systems’ Outstanding Teacher Award (2001). She serves as Co-Editor of Business & Information Systems Engineering’s Digital Entrepreneurship special issue and Associate Editor for European Conference on Information Systems.

Teaching: Teaches Digital Transformation, Strategy Execution, and Project Leadership across MBA, executive, and PhD programs. Developed Smith’s ‘Digital Business’ curriculum and co-created the ‘Project Leadership’ textbook.

Service: Co-founded the AIS Digital Innovation SIG, chairs conference tracks, and advises organizations like Canada Health Infoway. Served on Queen’s Senate (2012–2015) and research committees including the Smith Research Committee (2019).
