Tandy Thomas is an Associate Professor & E. Marie Shantz Fellow of Marketing at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. She holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of Arizona (2009), an MSc from Queen’s University (2004), and a BCom (Honours) in Marketing and International Business from Queen’s University (2003). Her research focuses on how social and cultural contexts influence consumption behaviors, particularly media discourses, consumer identity, and family consumption practices.

Her research interests include consumer behavior, marketing, retail, and identity dynamics. She serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Consumer Research and has received awards such as the Outstanding Reviewer Award (2017). Her work has been published in top journals like Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Retailing.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in Consumer Behavior and graduate courses in Qualitative Research Methods and Consumer Culture Theory. She actively mentors PhD students and serves on numerous academic committees.

Professional service includes roles as Executive Secretary of the Consumer Culture Theory Consortium and conference program committee involvement.
