Jyotsana Parajuli

Jyotsana Parajuli is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), part of the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). She is also an affiliate faculty member in the Gerontology Program. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University (2019), an MS in Gerontology from Miami University (2015), and a BS in Nursing from Tribhuvan University (2011).

Dr. Parajuli’s research focuses on palliative and end-of-life care for older adults with cancer, aging-related issues, and health disparities. She has received notable awards, including the 2020 CGNE Student Champion Award and a 2021 Faculty Research Grant for her work on advance care planning. Her publications appear in leading journals such as Aging & Mental Health, Gerontology and Geriatrics Education, and The Gerontologist.

Her research interests span gerontology, oncology, and palliative care, with an emphasis on social determinants of health, chronic conditions, and dementia. She actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations to address complex health challenges in aging populations.
