Joseph L. Clarke

Joseph L. Clarke is a faculty member at the Department of the History of Art, University of Toronto, specializing in architectural history with a focus on sound as a spatial phenomenon. His research at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) explores the sonic design of 1960s–1970s open-plan offices and their impact on communication technologies. He is completing a book on European acoustic research from the Enlightenment to the early 20th century.
