Sebastian Schwesinger is a Researcher at the Department of Cultural History and Theory at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and a visiting predoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in the research group Epistemes of Modern Acoustics.
Education:
- M.A. in Cultural History and Theory from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2013), thesis: Pirate economies as an example of cultural practices of delegitimated appropriation.
- Doctoral project at Humboldt-Universität: Media history of virtual acoustics.
Research Interests: Schwesinger specializes in sound studies (particularly sonic modes of thinking and reasoning), cultural economics, game studies, and digital humanities. His work examines the intersection of sound, technology, and historical epistemology.
Projects & Collaborations: He has coordinated the Auralization of Archaeological Spaces project at the Cluster of Excellence Image Knowledge Gestaltung since 2015 and collaborates with Felix Gerloff on the history of the decibel. Schwesinger co-organized the KlangDenken (Sonic Thinking) colloquium in Berlin since 2011 and founded the student radio magazine KulturWelle. He is also a member of gamelab.berlin.
