Joseph Clarke Daniels

Joseph Clarke Daniels is a full-time Professor in the Department of Art History at the University of Toronto. His research explores the disciplinarity of architecture—its theories, methods, and representational forms—while integrating media theory to analyze how architectural ideas are communicated and disseminated.

• Focuses on acoustic experimentation in modern architecture and its impact on disciplinary debates.
• Investigates open-plan offices of the 1960s and expressions of the sacred in modern/contemporary architecture.
• Cochairs the graduate Architectural History Working Group and the project "Canada Constructed: Architecture, Landscape, History".
• PhD from Yale University; former architect at Eisenman Architects and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
