Wolfgang Rossbauer

Wolfgang Rossbauer is a Professor at the Hochschule Luzern (HSLU) within the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture's Institute of Architecture IAR. He holds a Diplom from ETH Zürich (2005) and has professional experience with firms like Christian Kerez and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Since 2013, he has been a full-time professor at HSLU, previously serving as a guest professor at TU München (2019/20). He is a member of the BSA (Swiss Society of Architects) since 2021.

His research focuses on architecture and existing structures, life cycle analysis, and sustainable design, with notable projects including the Neubau Volksschule Marzili Bern (2014–2019), Montessorischule Arusha (2019–2022), and collaborative initiatives like FABIRA. His work emphasizes integrating architectural heritage with modern functional needs, evident in projects like the Marzili School’s pavilion design and sustainable construction practices.

Rossbauer’s teaching spans bachelor’s theses, summer schools, and advanced educational facilities. His professional collaborations include projects in Switzerland, Tanzania, and Afghanistan, such as the ETH House of Science in Bamiyan University. He leads teams in architectural design and urban planning, prioritizing contextual integration and environmental responsiveness.
