Thomas Rüedi is a Professor at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU) and leads Euphonium classes at HSLU and the Bern University of the Arts. As a globally renowned soloist, he has performed across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the US with prestigious orchestras and brass bands. His career milestone includes winning the 1999 European Soloist Competition for Brass Players in Munich. He co-founded the duo 'Synthesis' with marimbist Raphael Christen, producing critically acclaimed CDs like *Synthesis* and his solo album *Elégie*.
Education:
- Musical training at Sheffield University, UK, focusing on Euphonium under Phillip McCann, alongside conducting, arranging, and composition studies with Peter Parkes, Darrol Barry, and Philip Wilby.
Research & Creative Work: Rüedi explores innovative musical collaborations, blending performance, pedagogy, and composition. His work emphasizes expanding the Euphonium’s repertoire and fostering interdisciplinary music projects. He regularly performs with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and other renowned orchestras.
