Professor Jonathan Koffman is a Professor in Palliative Care and Associate Director at the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre, Hull York Medical School. He holds roles as co-director of the MSc in Palliative Care: Implementing Best Practice and Chair of the Hull York Medical School Research Ethics Committee. His academic career spans public health, mental illness, and palliative care research with a focus on minority ethnic populations.

Research Focus: Equity in end-of-life care, clinical uncertainty, and complex interventions. Current projects include:
- National evaluation of Electronic Palliative Care Coordination Systems (EPaCCS)
- NIHR-funded Carer Support Needs Assessment Tool Intervention (CSNAT-I) for minority ethnic carers
- Opioid prescribing disparities among ethnic groups
Awards: Teaching Excellence Award from King’s College London.
Advising & Grants: Supervises PhD research on palliative care education for minority groups and value-based healthcare frameworks. Recent student projects included COPD symptom clusters in China, advance care planning in Japan, and ethical considerations in social media research.
Collaborations: Works with University of Sheffield, Leeds, King’s College London, and others. Serves as Palliative Care Lead for the British Psychosocial Oncology Society (BPOS).
