Dr Sabrina Bajwah is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at King's College London and Honorary Consultant in Palliative Care at King's College Hospital. She leads the Cicely Saunders Institute's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. Her work focuses on improving palliative care outcomes, particularly in interstitial lung disease, COPD, and addressing racial disparities in healthcare access and research participation. She has pioneered projects like the BETTER-B trial (mirtazapine for breathlessness) and CovPall (palliative care during the pandemic).
- Education: MBChB (Medicine), MRCGP (General Practice), MSc (Health Services Research), MA (Education), PhD (Palliative Care), FRCP (Royal College of Physicians).
Research interests span breathlessness management, palliative care models, and health equity. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and secured grants from NIHR, Health Foundation, and others. Awards include the 2024 European Association Palliative Care Clinical Impact Award and 2023 King's Changemaker Award for challenging structural racism in healthcare.
Current projects include:
- BETTER-B trial (EU-funded breathlessness treatment)
- CovPall (pandemic palliative care evaluation)
- Equitable bereavement care for minority groups
She co-leads the Advanced Symptom Control module in King's MSc Palliative Care program and advises on policy reforms to reduce healthcare disparities.
