Professor Irene J Higginson is a Founding Professor at the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, part of King's College London's Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. She serves as Director of the Better Health & Care Hub, focusing on global health challenges like inequity and multimorbidity. Her dual training in palliative medicine and public health drives her research in symptom management, quality-of-life measurement, and palliative care policy. She has published over 700 articles and leads international initiatives such as the BETTER-B trial for breathlessness management.
