Dr. John W. Lane, Jr., Ph.D., serves as the Senior Advisor for Water/International at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Resources Mission Area. His expertise spans groundwater geophysics, hydrogeophysics, hydrogeology, and unmanned aircraft systems (drones), with a focus on advancing geophysical methods for groundwater investigations and contamination assessment.

• Leadership Role: Former Chief of the USGS Hydrogeophysics Branch, overseeing national and international applied research programs.
• Research Focus: Development of quantitative geophysical methods in fractured rock and porous media, hydrologic process assessment, and drone-based technology transfer.
