John Protevi is the Phyllis M. Taylor Professor of French Studies and Professor of Philosophy at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he has held appointments since 1990. He specializes in contemporary French philosophy, particularly the works of Foucault and Deleuze, and intersects these with cognitive science, affective neuroscience, and political theory. His research bridges philosophy, anthropology, and the biological sciences, exploring themes like biopolitics, geophilosophy, and the socio-political dimensions of affect.
