JoAnne Cascia, Ed.D., serves as Associate Professor and Department Chair of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Kean University's College of Health Professions and Human Services. She coordinates the SLP Master's program and holds an office in EC 104J. Her expertise includes pediatric language development, autism neurodiversity, and social communication interventions.
Dr. Cascia holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and teaches advanced courses such as Research Seminars, Pragmatic Language Assessment, Professional Issues in SLP, and Speech Anatomy. Her research focuses on autism spectrum disorder, neurodiversity advocacy, and clinical supervision practices in speech-language pathology.
Her recent work includes launching an interprofessional neurodiversity specialization program and examining empathy-systemizing relationships in children with ASD. She has published extensively on topics spanning clinical education, cognitive assessment, and disability inclusion strategies.
Dr. Cascia actively contributes to program development, including curriculum design for graduate SLP programs and collaborative initiatives across health professions disciplines. She is involved in professional training through clinical feedback analysis and competency-based education models.
