Aieshea Banks, PhD, CCC-SLP, is a full-time Assistant Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department at Loma Linda University since 2014. She teaches Clinical Methods, Counseling, Neurodiversity, and Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) coursework across undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels. As program director of the SLPA Preparation Program, she emphasizes curriculum development and clinical ethics instruction.
- Education: Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences (Loma Linda University), M.A. and B.A. in Communicative Disorders (California State University, Fullerton).
- Certifications: CCC-SLP (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association), Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner (2022), Certified ASD Clinical Specialist (2023), ADHD Rehabilitation Services Provider (2024).
Her research focuses on neurodiversity, particularly self-perceived social communication experiences of autistic young adults and ADHD-related challenges. She advocates for neurodivergent individuals through clinical instruction in Loma Linda’s Communication Clinic for Autism Spectrum and parental education programs at the Behavioral Health Institute’s ADHD Outpatient Program.
Dr. Banks’ 20+ presentations address neurodiversity awareness, cultural disparities in healthcare, and ethical counseling practices. She actively participates in committees promoting underrepresented communities in speech-language pathology.
