Jana Waller is the Associate Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance (HSHP) at Ithaca College, with a primary appointment in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SLPA). She holds an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Ithaca College, a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, and a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Albany. Ms. Waller is a certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) with clinical experience across educational, hospital, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and home-based settings.
Her research focuses on leadership in healthcare administration, interprofessional education and practice (IPE/IPP), and clinical supervision in speech-language pathology. Notable projects include developing interprofessional case-based models for student preparation and advancing social communication support for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She teaches graduate courses in professional practice, counseling in speech-language pathology, and speech disabilities in educational settings.
Ms. Waller is actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), holding membership in its Special Interest Group 16 (School-Based Issues). Her work emphasizes strengths-based, collaborative, and evidence-based approaches in both clinical and educational settings.
In advising roles, she oversees the Deaf Studies minor and mentors students in clinical education pathways. Her contributions extend to institutional leadership through initiatives like the Annual Case Competition, fostering interprofessional collaboration among health professions students.
