Professor Jennifer Tomlinson is a Professor of Gender and Employment Relations at the Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds. She serves as Head of the Department of People Work and Employment and is the Faculty Lead for Athena Swan. Her research focuses on gender, inequality, and employment relations, with a specialization in gender segregation, flexible working, and part-time work in professional and managerial roles.
She holds a PhD in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds and has taught courses such as Gender and Equality at Work in Comparative Perspective and Human Resource Management. Professor Tomlinson has supervised numerous doctoral students researching topics like gender and talent management, gender quotas in higher education, and organizational gender pay gaps. Her work has been commissioned by organizations like the Legal Services Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority, including a major report on diversity in the legal profession in England and Wales.
Her research outputs span over two decades, addressing themes such as work-life balance, intersectionality in legal careers, and the impact of redundancy on domestic labor divisions. She actively engages with policy and practice through commissioned studies, aiming to advance gender equality and work-life balance initiatives globally.
