Jennie Williams is an Associate Professor at Stony Brook University's Renaissance School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Family, Population & Preventive Medicine. She conducts research on cancer chemoprevention and racial/ethnic health disparities, focusing on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms in colorectal cancer disparities.
- Education: BS from Savannah State University, MS from Tuskegee University, PhD from Purdue University, Postdoctoral work at Harvard
Research Interests: Dr. Williams investigates the mechanistic roles of NF-κB in colon cancer prevention using NSAID derivatives, and explores how miRNA dysregulation and aberrant DNA methylation contribute to cancer disparities. Her work addresses racial/ethnic differences in colorectal cancer incidence and mortality.
Grants & Awards: Recipient of NIH-funded K01 and R01 awards enabling her transition to independent research. These grants supported studies on gene therapy for AIDS prevention and chemopreventive properties of NO-NSAIDs against cancer.
