Jenny Ting

Jenny Ting is the William Rand Kenan Professor of Genetics at the UNC School of Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and serves as Director of the Center for Translational Immunology. A molecular immunologist and pioneer in innate immunity, her research spans autoimmunity, neuroinflammation, cancer immunology, infectious diseases, and microbiota, with significant translational applications.

Her work focuses on inflammasome proteins and NLR (NOD-like receptor) family regulators of inflammatory pathways (NF-κB, MAPK, STAT), uncovering their roles in demyelination, influenza infection, metabolic diseases, colitis, and colon cancer. She also discovered T cell-intrinsic functions of innate immune receptors impacting adaptive immunity and B cell regulation.

Dr. Ting’s research contributes to understanding immunometabolism, regeneration, and microbiome interactions, with potential for therapeutic interventions in inflammatory diseases.
