Specializing in critical sociology of sport, Bishara's research investigates intersections of gender, violence, and class in athletic environments. His current projects focus on preventing gender-based violence, advancing gender equity, and supporting CALD inclusion across community and state sporting organizations, employing qualitative methodologies to address systemic issues in sports settings.
Bishara's funded research includes the Change Makers initiative (2024-2025) addressing 50:50 gender representation and the Men as Allies for Gender Equity project funded by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions. His scholarly outputs demonstrate consistent focus on migration, gender equity, and pedagogical challenges in sports contexts.
As a sessional academic since 2016, he teaches sociology of sport and health courses while leading community-focused research. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical interventions through partnerships with sporting organizations and government bodies.
