معرفی
Dr Jason Wilson is a Research Fellow and BBSRC Discovery Fellow at the School of Biosciences, University of Sheffield, UK. His work focuses on molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and phage-host interactions, combining structural biology with applications in phage therapy and antimicrobial development.
- Current affiliation: School of Biosciences, University of Sheffield
- Previous affiliations: University of York (Department of Biology), University of Sheffield (Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Department of Infection, Immunity & Cardiovascular Disease)
Education
- BSc in Biochemistry (2009-2012), University of Sheffield
- PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (2012-2016), University of Sheffield
Research Interests
Dr Wilson investigates phage-host interactions using cryoelectron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, and mass spectrometry. He explores how bacteriophages subvert bacterial processes during infection, with implications for phage therapy and novel antimicrobial design. His work emphasizes engineering phages for targeted clinical applications by eliminating undesirable traits like virulence gene transfer.
Scientific Awards
- BBSRC Discovery Fellow (2024-present)
Grants & Affiliations
Recipient of BBSRC Discovery Fellowship funding. Held postdoctoral positions at University of York and University of Sheffield, with research spanning bacterial pathogenesis, structural biology, and antimicrobial innovation.
