Jana Patey is a Teaching Assistant at University College London (UCL) School of Management. She also holds an Associate Lectureship at the University of West of England and is a visiting fellow at the University of East Anglia. Prior to her current roles, she served as a Senior Research Associate at Norwich Business School (UEA) and an Occasional Lecturer at the University of Suffolk, teaching postgraduate and undergraduate modules in Business Management, Organisational Behaviour, and HRM CIPD-accredited courses.
She completed her PhD in 2019, exploring workplace relations and their insights into organizational anxiety and malpractice using psychodynamic lenses, particularly the Object Relations School. Her doctoral research focused on how interpersonal and organizational spaces affect self-identity.
Jana's research interests span six key areas:
- Health and Wellbeing: Examines individual and organizational wellness, critiquing workplace wellbeing practices.
- Organizational Behavior: Investigates affect mechanisms and malpractice dynamics within organizations.
- Creativity & Innovation: Studies creative expression and structural influences in workplace environments.
- AI & Future of Work: Explores artificial intelligence's impact on organizational structures and pedagogical methods.
- Entrepreneurship: Specializes in women-led ventures and innovation ecosystems.
- Gender & Inclusion: Addresses systemic inequalities and diversity initiatives in organizational contexts.
She holds professional certifications including an HEA Fellowship and CIPD Chartered Membership. Her advisory work from 2010-2019 focused on employment relations risks and policy design to enhance organizational outcomes like wellbeing and productivity.
Notable collaborations include an ESRC-funded project on health/wellbeing practices in organizations and current engagement with multiple institutions through her visiting roles.
