Carola Weissmeyer is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Industrial Relations at Keele Business School (KBS), and serves as the KBS Student Experience and Advancement Lead (SEAL). She holds a PhD from Keele University on European Works Councils in the pulp and paper industry. Her academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and HRM, and an MA in European Industrial Relations and HRM, both from Keele University.
Her research focuses on comparative and international employment relations, employee voice mechanisms, and workplace health/safety/wellbeing. She has explored the role of European Works Councils in the context of European integration and globalization's impact on HRM. Current research projects include health and safety representation.
Dr. Weissmeyer teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules in HRM and Employment Relations, including 'Managing Human Resources' and 'Research Methods'. She supervises doctoral students in areas like employee representation, comparative HRM, and workplace wellbeing.
- Memberships: Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD - Associate since 2009), British Universities Industrial Relations Association (BUIRA), German Industrial Relations Association (GIRA).
- Supervision: Current PhD students include Mouza Hamad Al Darmaki (part-time) and Bethany Edge (full-time). Completed supervision includes Dr Robert Plummer's thesis on UK-Swedish employment comparisons.
She previously taught at Keele as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Session Teacher, and worked as a Research Assistant at Birmingham University.
