Jana Patey

Dr Jana Patey is an Associate Lecturer at the Bristol Business School, University of the West of England (UWE). Her work integrates teaching, research, and professional practice in organisational studies, with a focus on workplace wellbeing, affective experiences, and inclusive leadership.

• Teaching: She employs engaged pedagogy principles and one-to-one interaction to enhance student learning.
• Research: Current projects involve inclusive leadership, translation studies, and visual methods, building on her previous work with an ESRC-funded project analysing wellbeing and productivity through 250 interviews.
• Professional Affiliations: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Her research interests span individual and organisational wellness, affective experiences in workplaces, AI’s role in organisational futures, creativity and innovation in work contexts, and structural inequalities in opportunities. She specialises in qualitative and mixed-methods approaches to study organisational dynamics.

Dr Patey’s prior HR advisory roles in public and private sectors (2010–2019) focused on mitigating organisational risks related to employment relations and policy design for improved wellbeing and performance.
